About

OUR MISSION
We want to build a community. Our goal is to provide a safe space for ALL people to find or bring your people and to connect through games. Providing the BEST experience to you, our guests, is how we will achieve that. We want to learn your names and for you to feel like this is a home for you. We want to get to know you as humans and form those connections with you. We want you to walk in and feel valued and cared for.
We want families to come here and be a part of that, too. We want to introduce the love of gaming to the next generation.
OUR STORY
When we got together in 2013, Thomas introduced me (Heather) to the deck building game, Dominion. I had played things like Monopoly, Scrabble, Poker, and Apples to Apples (and of course Candy Land and Memory with my kiddos when they were tiny), but I had not played anything really beyond that. He had played D&D over the years and had a game night with some friends playing Dominion regularly. I became obsessed with Dominion and we played pretty much every day for several months. Things were stressful in my life at the time, and playing Dominion was a much needed escape, a way to engage my mind with something other than the dramatically changes circumstances that were happening around me.
Fast forward several years and Thomas and I had opened a food truck which we were working pretty much 7 days a week when you factor in all the prep, services, shopping, administrative and social media. We got to a place where we were getting pretty burned out and although we were TOGETHER literally 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, we were not really connecting, and we DEFINITELY weren’t having much fun or relaxing. When I heard about a board game cafe opening, we took a much needed break and went to check it out. We were floored by so many board games in one place! The boxes were all so colorful with so many intriguing names and artwork! We got some coffee and chose Dimensions. It was simple to learn, quick to play, and so much fun!! We were hooked!! We invested in a year long membership for the family, and found out that one of our daughters’ school busses would drop off in that same plaza. We would get there as early as we were able to and get a quick game of something in while we waited for her, and would schedule days for us to go as a family so we could reconnect with the kids through our love of games. Something about friendly competition sometimes makes it just a little easier for a family to come together and laugh, even if other things are difficult in that moment.
Over the next few years while continuing to grow our food truck business, we daydreamed about one day opening our own Board Game Cafe. When Covid hit, we realized that we had a passion for growing our own food, moved up to Yulee, bought some land to pasture raise chickens, and became immersed in the community by selling at the Fernandina Beach Market Place every Saturday. We love it here. After 3 years, we feel like you all are family to us, and we are ready to give you a space to come together, disconnect from technology and reconnect with each other, and meet new people with the same passion for fun and games.
